Enhanced Cable Marker Library with Gauge Information
In AutoCAD Electrical 2026, Rating 2 attribute is added for the cable marker that specifies the gauge information of the cable. You can manually enter the gauge information in the Gauge edit box that is located below the ID edit box in the Wire Color/ID area, refer to Figure 1.
Note that this gauge information is provided as a Rating 2 attribute only for the newly inserted cable markers in the new drawings. For the cable markers in the older version drawings, the Gauge edit box is not activated. To activate this check box and to add the gauge information for the cable marker. you need to follow the steps given below:
- Choose the Swap/Update Block tool; the Swap Block/Update Block/Library Swap dialog box is displayed. In this dialog box, select the Update a Block - Substitute new version for selected block radio button and then choose the OK button.
- You will be prompted to select block to update. Select the cable marker for which you want to add gauge information; the Update Block - New block’s path\filename dialog box and the Select a Substitute .dwg file for block ‘HW01000 dialog box is displayed where HW01000 is the block name of the selected cable marker.
- Select the cable marker block drawing from the list displayed in the Select a Substitute .dwg file for block ‘HW01000 dialog box and then choose the Open button.
- Next, choose the Active Drawing button in the Update Block - New block’s path\filename dialog box; the cable marker block is changed to new block with the gauge information as a Rating 2 attribute. Now, choose the Edit tool from the Edit Components panel and select the same cable marker; the Insert / Edit Cable Marker (Parent wire) dialog box is displayed.
- In this dialog box, you will notice that the Gauge edit box is activated in the Wire Color/ID area and you can now add the gauge information in this edit box. You can also update the gauge information from the predefined conductor list in the catalog database for the assigned catalog number using the Component Update from Catalog tool in the Other Tools panel of the Project tab.
Manufacturer Catalog Content
In AutoCAD Electrical 2026, built-in manufacturer content is enhanced by including an extensive range of Schneider Electric components. These include control relays, pilot lights, pushbuttons, selector switches, time relays, and enclosures and associated panel footprint drawings.
In addition, the Siemens AG catalog data, along with associated panel footprint drawings is also added. This expanded library provides electrical designers with greater flexibility and efficiency when specifying components in their control panel layouts.
Update Wire Number Annotations in Panel Footprints
The Wire Annotations area is added in AutoCAD Electrical 2026, refer to Figure 2. The options in this area are used to update wire number annotations within panel footprints and terminal block representations during project-wide or drawing-wide wire number updates. This includes graphical terminal strips, tabular terminal strips, and jumper charts. This enhancement ensures consistent and accurate wire number annotations across all schematic and panel drawings. It also streamlines documentation and reduces manual editing.
Markup Import & Markup Assist
In AutoCAD Electrical 2026, Markup Assist identifies text, strikethroughs, and boundary markups in Autodesk Docs PDFs and convert boundaries to revclouds.
Some other updates
In AutoCAD Electrical 2026, on using the Component Update from Catalog tool, TEXTVALUE attribute is now updated for panel footprints, just as it is for schematic symbols.
When copying a project, AutoCAD Electrical now supports setting the root of a drive (such as D:) as the new location. It enhances user control over file storage.
